Google Translate: Adapting and Giving Students a Voice

#EdTech is amazing. Today a student in my class used #Googletranslate on a Chromebook to translate my input and class discussions for an INA student with almost no English to take part in the lesson and gave them a #studentvoice too. The student’s behvaviour immediately improved and it humbled me in my teaching practice as well. Note to self for next time:
– slow things down.
– walk around and hold quiet discussions with students to minimise disruption (and not interrupt Google!)
– empathy increases around the classroom when you show how distractions impact others’ learning.
