mrtmullins.com began in a relative flurry of posts, as could be expected getting any new initiative off the ground. However, the question stuck at the back of my mind remained, when is enough, enough?
This is a question that as teachers we often ask ourselves and one which in my early days as a teacher, I continue to grapple with. We can post collect data, post Tweets, update assessment and continually improve our relationships with our students. However, one things I do know is that rest is gooood.
Traveling to visit friends in Dominican Republic over Easter helped bring back some sense of reality to everything in a place where the joy of life is so evident. Taiwan is a wonderful country full of culture and kindness but stepping out of the daily routine brings everything back into perspective. It all may sound cliché but there’s reasons why some clichès exist.
The first day of term back with the kids was our Year 6 residential and it was an opportunity to relax and enjoy the break from daily routine with my students. Stepping away from objectives and deadlines and simply exploring a new part of the world with inquisitive minds was joyful for both I as teacher and the pupils.
Joy. It is a feeling I hope to keep for as long as I can. And I sincerely hope my students do too!
