Kids are amazing aren’t they? I know we say that easily, but they just are.
The Task: Students to create and edit a TV news report using iMovie.
The Outcome: Student led learning and some well polished and entertaining productions! And a good slice of ol’ Humble Pie for mrtmullins.
This week saw students collate 4 news reports together in order to edit and produce a news show. If I had taught them how to use iMovie then it would have been lost on them and more importantly patronising; this was a moment where I head to step back and let the children show each other how it’s done! How can you split this part to insert an audio clip to enhance the background mood? Can I just create my own trailer to introduce the show? YES. Please lead the way young Jedi!
The Next Step: To replicate the skills exhibited in their TV news reports and enhance the outcome by using student engineered research to create an environmental documentary.
